Visiting New York

I am visiting New York for a week. Sometime in the middle of my trip, I decide to go visit somewhere else. I go to the airport and my ticket is a few days old. I am hoping they will still let me travel. I am staying with Trevor, my old room mate, in New York. I end up back there somehow, and there is a party going on.

Jazz Concert

I am playing in a concert with some singer from out of town. She seems to be very famous as there is a huge crowd. The concert goes well and I have several solos, but when we get to the encore I can't concentrate and I mess up several times. There is a weird form and a key change that I screw up. Julian is on bass.

Deadly Games

Mark is driving, giving a ride to me and the King of England. We look over at a crowd of security people who find it odd that he wants to get a ride with commoners. We drive past Mark's parents and they ask us why he is in the back seat. I tell them that he said he preferred the back seat. There is a lot of mud on the road. Mark's parents don't go down the road I had assumed we would take, and I point that out to Mark, so we make a right turn, but he seems to think that we should have followed them. There is a difficult merge, and it seems like the cars won't ever stop coming. Karl managed to zoom in front of a car and merge. The scene changes a bit, and there are railroad tracks that we need to cross over by foot to get to the other side of some sort of weird bridge. We get out of our cars. (There are several of us now.) I walk over to the railroad tracks and I see someone try to cross, but he gets hit with a stick with a pointed end that goes right into his body. It seems that in order to cross you have to be able to dodge these weapons that people throw at you. I get involved in a duel with some guy. The duel is just us throwing these sticks at each other and he isn't very good. I dodge every one of them. It seems that he is a beginner, and he points out the master stick-thrower to me. I walk toward the bridge, intending to attempt to cross it, but someone warns me that it isn't a good idea to attempt to cross until I have gotten good at dodging the sticks. I ask the master why everyone is throwing these sticks at each other and why we can't all just peacefully cross the bridge. He says something about it being "just a bunch of urban kids making fun of other urban kids." I tell him that I am an "urban person." I can't remember his reply. We agree to a duel. He pulls out a lot of sticks.

Cliff Diving in a Suit

I am staying at a beachfront house. I play a gig with Kirby, Curtis, and Amber. We play a Joni Mitchell tune, and Kirby and I get lost. The same thing had happened on a previous gig. Later, a bunch of people are cliff diving. I am standing at the top of a cliff in my grey suit. Everyone is encouraging me to jump. It is very high. I don't jump but somehow I end up in the water. A really huge wave hits and gets all of my stuff wet on shore, including my phone. The phone still works so I turn it off so it doesn't get damaged. Kirby starts asking me about how we got lost in the performance earlier and I tell him I will check out the recording and chart and try to figure out what happened.

Liquor Mart

It is ten minutes to midnight, and I'm with Keith at a party somewhere on south Osborne. The LC closes at midnight, and we want to get there in time. I go into a parking lot and Keith pulls out in his car. Suddenly there are a bunch of random people in the parking lot. Keith pulls up next to me and some of them are in the car. I have to squeeze in next to two girls in the back seat.
Someone is playing a game of chess, and Marge is the queen in the game. There are also a couple of strawberries that I think were pawns. Marge says something about liking strawberries because you can use them to make praline. (Even though praline clearly does not have strawberries in it.)

Lost in Boston

I am staying in Boston for a few days. I have some drinks, then I go for a long walk. I randomly run into three people I know from the symphony. They are visiting a friend and they invite me into the house. I walk through the house then say goodbye and walk back towards where I am staying. I realize that I was not paying attention earlier, so I don't know where I am. I try to guess the directions, but I definitely end up taking a different route. My phone is dead, and I can't remember the name of the address. I am worried. I become lucid for a while, but then I lapse back into the dream. I think that Boston looks somewhat like Winnipeg. I overhear some young kids discussing the U.S. Constitution.

Can't Quite Realize I Am Dreaming

I am at some sort of party. I continually "wake up" but every time I am still dreaming. I question several times whether I am dreaming but I never quite make the jump to being lucid. I have at least 6-7 false awakenings before finally waking up with my arm almost asleep.

Late For A Gig

I'm at home. Terreon is staying at my place while he's in town. I come home and he is sleeping on my bed when I turn the light on. I tell him he can stay there. He says I am much cooler than Curtis, who made him sleep on the couch. I am on my way to a gig and I am getting dressed. I have a lot of trouble getting my clothes on, but I finally do. I run out to the car, and things keep going wrong. It ends up being "7:83" according to my watch, and the gig started at 7, so I am 83 minutes late. The gig is at the Club Regent with Kirby, Jimmy Greene, and Curtis. I am panicking.

Curtis Gets Screwed

I am sitting at a gig with Curtis. We have just played and we had a couple of beers. The bartender didn't ask for any money. MD comes up to Curtis and tells him that the drinks weren't free but she paid for them. She says that he can make the check out to her. He agrees and gives her a check for $85. I tell her that I thought it was an open bar since I didn't see any sign and the bartender didn't ask for money. She insists that she is correct. Kirby tells Curtis that he just got screwed. I get very upset and get up to go over and grab the check from her to rip it up but I wake up before I get that far.

%10 Off Local Japanese Artists

I am getting a ride with a man. He goes into a shop at the Forks and gets in an argument with another man. He ends up accidentally killing the other man. He runs back to the car. A cop approaches the car. Somehow we escape, and we're driving around the city. I give him some driving advice to help us get away as quickly as possible. I suspect that he has been drinking. We pull into a gas station. Suddenly the man becomes Jesse Dietschi. The man at the pump tells us that if we buy some Japanese product it is %20 off. We go into the shop, which becomes a bookstore. There is a set of 2 volumes called something like "Fundamentals of Piano Technique." I decide I want to buy them, as they are supposed to be classics. Jesse asks me what other piano technique material I have read, and I tell him that the main one I've really checked out is "Great Pianists and Their Technique" but I don't use that title. I look at the price of these books and I am surprised by how cheap they are, as is Jesse. I go to purchase them and the salesman tells me they are %10 because they are written by a local Japanese artist. I am shocked that these classic piano texts are by a local guy I have never heard of. He tells me that he is very reclusive and nobody knows about him.
